On Saturday, the NFL Players Association officially updated its demands for safer field conditions.
NFLPA President JC Tretter wants the league to improve its playing surface as unnecessary injuries are on the rise.
The NFLPA said, “Advocating for safer working conditions is at the core of our union’s work, and there are few better examples of this than raising the bar in the fields where we practice and play. “Every week I’ve heard players hear about the need to improve the field after they’ve been injured. This week the NFL’s PR machine is going into overdrive to spin a more lucrative narrative.” I have seen the unions and the players know there is a problem.
“If the NFL takes their claim to making data-driven decisions and caring about player safety, we have some actionable items in place for them. increase.”
The NFLPA is asking the league to immediately ban and replace surfaces made with slit film turf. Additionally, the union wants to raise field standards and test all surfaces for safety.
These weren’t the only requests the NFLPA made. They no longer want their games played on fields with obvious visual anomalies.
The final request Tretter made was to remove redundant personnel and dangerous equipment from the sidelines. Denver Broncos linebacker Aaron Patrick suffered a season-ending injury after colliding with a staff member on the sideline in October.
The ball is officially on the NFL court.
